Injury Rehab Assistance & Injury Prevention

 

As we age, our bodies start to change and our joints may begin to tighten up, click, crack, or hurt in places that never bothered you in the past.

Some common joint related issues in people over 50 include:

  • Rotator cuff injuries (shoulder)

  • Shoulder bursitis

  • "Frozen shoulder"

  • Lower back pain

  • "Tennis" elbow

  • "Golfer's" elbow

  • Meniscus tear in knee

  • Osteoarthritis in knee or hip joints

  • Early stage osteoporosis

The good news is most injuries can be prevented by working with an experienced personal trainer and a well-designed and personalized training plan.

 

Proper warm-up, good technique while strength training, strengthening core muscles including abs, lower back, and around hips, and shoulder stabilizers, and allowing enough time for recovery between workouts are all important.

 

Balance and mobility/flexibility tend to decline as we get older so some balance, mobility, and flexibility training should also be incorporated into your routine. Attention to these areas is essential for better function inside and outside of the gym in your daily life.

If you already have an injury, I can work together with your physiotherapist (or refer you to a good local physiotherapist) and assist with your injury rehab program. I also offer pre and post knee or hip replacement training.
