My Story…
A Legacy of Fitness

My sister and I were lucky to grow up with parents who led an active lifestyle and included us in their adventures such as hiking the North shore mountains, cycling trips around the Gulf Islands, entering fun runs, playing tennis and golf, kayaking, skiing, playing hockey in the street or on frozen fields in the winter and much more.
​
I grew up believing I was an “athlete” and always continued living this lifestyle. But back then, our family, and most of the others we knew, definitely didn’t give much thought to optimal nutrition! It’s crazy to think that we grew up on a diet that included too many processed foods … Kraft dinner, Twinkies, Froot Loops and a variety of other sugary cereals, pop tarts, Ritz crackers, processed cheese and sandwich meats, Jello pudding, sugary juice boxes, McDonalds, etc. My health and energy definitely weren’t as good as they could have been growing up.

When I look back at my life so far, it feels like I’ve lived ten lifetimes in one! Besides all the exciting and amazing experiences and adventures, I’ve also had to overcome a lot of obstacles and challenges. As an international level athlete in my 20s with an Olympic dream, I developed eating disorders which not only ended my cycling career but also led to debilitating health issues including chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia, digestive and joint issues and more.
This was the beginning of a long journey back to health.

Although it’s never fun to go through those kinds of things, each of the challenges that I faced helped me to become even stronger in body, mind, and spirit. My life experiences inspired me to learn as much as I could in the areas of fitness training, health and healing, optimal nutrition, injury rehab, mental conditioning, and spiritual growth. These invaluable experiences and what I learned through them, help me every day in the work that I do with others. And through all of life’s changes and challenges, a fitness lifestyle has ultimately carried me through.

I guess it’s not surprising that I chose fitness as a career. As a personal trainer, I'm able to make the best use of my specific gifts, life experience and knowledge. For 30 years, I’ve been passionate about helping people of all ages and fitness levels to achieve their best bodies and uncover their sometimes hidden "athlete within." Usually people come to me with the goal of losing weight and are amazed to embark on a journey that is so much more rewarding than they could have imagined with weight loss being only one of many benefits. It’s incredibly rewarding to support others in this way and to watch the results benefit not only my clients but their family and friends as well. Some of my clients have even gone on to become personal trainers themselves!

Now my passion is to help YOU to achieve your best body this year, along with the healthy glow and abundant joy and energy that can only come from optimal nutrition and a healthy fitness lifestyle.
